A Holistic Approach
to Treatment

Treatment Philosophy

The belief and understanding that all of the body’s systems must work together for optimal health and function is a critical part of the therapy performed here.  One cannot separate a part of oneself from the whole.  With the combination of the manual and physical therapy techniques described here, an individualized holistic approach to healing is utilized to assist each client in reaching their potential and goals.

Who can benefit?

Individuals of all ages, including newborns, can benefit from this approach.  Each appointment is tailored to the individual’s needs at that time.  Clients enter into a “Responsibility for Health Agreement” – which states that they understand that their therapist is a facilitator, and that they must participate in their healing process and be responsible to the best of their ability on all levels physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Manual and Physical Therapies for Improving Your Health

According to developer Jean Pierre Barral, DO, MRO(F), RPT, visceral manipulation is a gentle manual therapy that evaluates the entire body to find the source of the problem, instead of relying solely on the area of pain or dysfunction.  The therapist feels for altered or restricted motion within the viscera (organs), as well as dysfunctional patterns throughout the body.

Based on the work of Bruno Chikly, MD, DO (hon.), lymphatic drainage assists the body in removing toxins, reducing swelling, regenerating tissues and enhancing the immune system.  It is effective for pre/post surgical procedures as well as trauma.

Developed by Jean Pierre Barral, DO, MRO(F), RPT, Manual Articular (Joint) Approach (MMA) is a manual therapy technique that “integrates all aspects of the joint, including the nerve, artery, m bone, capsule and ligaments, as well as visceral (organ) and emotional connections”.

Neural Manipulation, as developed by and according to Jean Pierre Barral, DO, MRO(F)_, RPT, is a gentle manual therapy approach to identify local restrictions and fixations of the nerves, while examining their effects on the rest of the body.  The release techniques re-establish communication in the body and improve the body’s ability to adapt and restore itself to optimal health.

Based on the teachings of John Upledger, DO, OMM, Craniosacral Therapy is a light touch therapy that works with the central nervous system to release tensions and restrictions throughout your body.

This form of soft tissue massage addresses the different fascial planes to free up tension and tight areas in the body.

A manual techniques used to release joint restrictions and restore joint mechanics.

A form of exercise emphasizing the retraining of coordination of movement, balance, coordination, kinesthetic sense, posture and proprioception.

The integrative Manual Therapies listed here are clinically proven to assist in the recovery from Post-Concussion Syndrome and its associated symptoms.  Due to the body’s extensive fascial connections, all systems need to be balanced to achieve the best results.

These manual techniques, developed by Bruno Chikly MD, DO (hon.), directly address the structures of the brain and spinal cord, releasing specific brain-centered restrictions well as the damaging effects that they cause.  They are effective in assisting the nervous systems (central and peripheral) to regulate and communicate.

A functional taping method used to promote muscle activation, or inhibition, decrease pain or swelling, or assist with the mobilization of scar tissue. Developed by Dr. Kenzi, DC, from Japan, it is hypoallergenic and allows for full range of motion.

Individual exercise programs for endurance, strength, and stabilization, with the emphasis on home program established according to the client’s needs and their healing process.  Programs are adapted to fit lifestyle and access to different modes of exercise, which is critical to successful client compliance.

A comprehensive evaluation used to determine movement pattern baselines, whether joint and soft tissue related or motor control related.  The results direct manual therapy treatments and exercise programs.

Treatment of the athletes tailored to their specific sport and goals, with emphasis on a successful home program with the resources available to them.
